Mark you calendars and take in dance, theatre, music, play readings and more!

BC BUDS allows established and emerging artists to present new and experimental work while giving audiences an opportunity to explore and experience the arts in informal and unorthodox settings.

Enjoy theatre, dance, music and inter-disciplinary arts making magic and mayhem with performances taking place in the Firehall Arts Centre's stairwells, courtyard, hallways and on bicycles, while other artists perform outdoors, on sidewalks and in vans.

<a href="http://bethsouthwel.blogspot.com" target="_new">Beth Southwell is performing on Friday night, May 20th, in the Studio. She starts at 8:30 and had a special guest in store. Beth's new CD will be out in August and is being released by RPW Records.

<a href="http://www.reverbnation.com/twotallwomen" target="_new">Two Tall Women are performing on Saturday night, May 21st, in the Theatre. Their show starts and 7:00 and Pam and Beth will be joined by Sacha Levin on djembe and cajon. TTW have lots of new songs and a few of the old favourites to share at BC Buds.

Heather Haley hosts See The Voice-Vancouver International Poetry Festival

RPW artist and Vancouver poet, author and media artist Heather Haley is the host and curator of Visible Verse&nbsp; She will present a special evening devoted to videopoetry and film from around the world. A wild ride of works &ndash; varying tremendously in budget, style, theme, and length &ndash; the program features both new and established voices.

Described as &ldquo;brawny and uncompromising&rdquo; by the Westender, Haley is known for her artistic fluidity and unwillingness to be bound by the conventions of genre, discipline or media.

Her showcase explores an artistic perspective starkly different from traditional conceptions of poetry, and in this way is a perfect fit with the festival&rsquo;s intention of displaying not only the present state of spoken word, but its future.

Friday, April 22 &middot; 7:00pm - 10:00pm at Roots Lounge, 1025 Commercial Dr, Vancouver, BC

For the full schedule you can check out Heather's blog One Life at <a href="http://www.heatherhaley.com" target="_new">www.heatherhaley.com

The Siren of Howe Sound, Heather Haley, at The Shebeen Club

Who: The Siren of Howe Sound, Heather Haley

What: A night of multimedia delights celebrating the recent publication of Three Blocks West of Wonderland.

When: Monday, August 16, from 7pm-9pm

Where: The Shebeen, behind the Irish Heather, 212 Carrall Street

As always, $20 buys you dinner and a drink and some of the finest literary company this city has to offer. No RSVP is required, but it&rsquo;s appreciated so we have a rough idea of whether we need to reserve the snug or to lay in crowd control! Click here to RSVP on Facebook.

Join us as we celebrate the release of Heather Haley&rsquo;s latest book of poetry, Three Blocks West of Wonderland. Heather is both the digital AND actual troubadour of the West Coast, from Bowen Island to Venice Beach, and for the first time she&rsquo;ll be bringing her multimedia performance experience to the Shebeen Club. There will be poetry. There will be prose. There will be beauty. There may be song. And there WILL be videopoems, a dynamic new genre that seems to have sprung fully formed from the forehead of the Siren of Howe Sound herself.

We&rsquo;re very proud to help celebrate a pivotal local literatus&rsquo;s latest launch! And that&rsquo;s my allotment of &ldquo;L&rsquo;s&rdquo; for the week right there.

Poet, author, musician and media artist Heather Haley pushes boundaries by creatively integrating disciplines, genres and media. Published in numerous journals and anthologies including Geist and The Verse Map of Vancouver, her poetry collections Sideways (Anvil Press) and Three Blocks West of Wonderland (Ekstasis Editions) have been described as &ldquo;supple and unusual,&rdquo; &ldquo;brawny and uncompromising.&rdquo;

No RSVP is required, but it’s appreciated so we have a rough idea of whether we need to reserve the snug or to lay in crowd control! Click here to RSVP on Facebook.

Join us as we celebrate the release of Heather Haley’s latest book of poetry, Three Blocks West of Wonderland. Heather is both the digital AND actual troubadour of the West Coast, from Bowen Island to Venice Beach, and for the first time she’ll be bringing her multimedia performance experience to the Shebeen Club. There will be poetry. There will be prose. There will be beauty. There may be song. And there WILL be videopoems, a dynamic new genre that seems to have sprung fully formed from the forehead of the Siren of Howe Sound herself.

We’re very proud to help celebrate a pivotal local literatus’s latest launch! And that’s my allotment of “L’s” for the week right there.

Poet, author, musician and media artist Heather Haley pushes boundaries by creatively integrating disciplines, genres and media. Published in numerous journals and anthologies including Geist and The Verse Map of Vancouver, her poetry collections Sideways (Anvil Press) and Three Blocks West of Wonderland (Ekstasis Editions) have been described as “supple and unusual,” “brawny and uncompromising.”

Sylvia Patricia, Billy The Kid and Beth Southwell are lighting up the stage at the Cafe Deux Soleils on Sat. Sept 12th.

All the way from Brazil, Sylvia Patricia is touring in support of her fifth CD&uml; NO RADIO DA MINHA CABE&Ccedil;A.&uml;

One of most important composer and singer from Bahia-Brazil, with a really unique personal style, she mixes Bossa Nova and Brazilian Rhythms with Blues, Jazz, Rock and R&amp;B, as well as doses of Latin music.

With her sensual, deep voice, and her versatility as a singer, ranging from whisper to wild chords, Sylvia Patricia was the first Bahian singer to receive the Sharp Prize.
Sylvia Patricia feels comfortable within any musical style being both an academic musician and a popular singer. She studied composing and conducting, classical guitar, piano and even classical Indian music.
Born in Salvador, with indigenous blood she uses the music to talk of love and life&rsquo;s ups and downs in the metropolis, of sprawling cities that don&rsquo;t ever stop growing but all from an upbeat female viewpoint.

It isn't even enough to say that Billy and her band of Lost Boys have a stage&ndash;presence worth seeing over and over again. Billy the Kid exemplifies the essence of the independent spirit, charisma and inspiration for artists on the rise or for those hoping for the chance to make it that far. &quot; - Echo Weekly

Beth has just returned from touring the Okanagan.
This world traveller writes songs from her experiences of life and living. Songs from her journeys to France, Ireland and Taiwan intermingle with those of personal experience.

Great news about RPW artists AURAL Heather.

<a href="./auralheather.cfm"> AURAL Heather is the new weather, a unique, sublime fusion of song and spoken word by firey-poet-vocalist Heather Haley and dazzling guitarist-producer, Roderick Shoolbraid.
They are perfoming Friday July 10th as part of the opening celebration starting at 7:30 at Cates Hill Chapel.

Either way (or both!), Bowen Island is the place to be for aspiring and experienced writers on the weekend of July 10 to 12. Come spend the day or the whole weekend! All you need to bring is your notebook and your imagination!

Sponsored by the Bowen Island Arts Council, Write on Bowen! kicks off at 7:30pm on Friday, July 10 at Cates Hill Chapel with an intense and exciting evening of readings and performances featuring Bowen's own Spider Robinson, Pauline LeBel, AURAL Heather (with Heather Haley and Roderick Shoolbraid), Keath Fraser, Susanna Braund, and Nick Faragher.

Heather is also facilitating a <a href="http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=212329960346&amp;ref=ts#/event.php?eid=96708469236&amp;ref=ts">workshop on Sunday July 12th -&quot;SIDEWAYS-Alternatives To Print&quot;
